There are people who retire in comfort and are not burdened with undischarged
duties .They have no problems .But the
external cosy comfort and the abundant leisure of retirement do not
give them a sense of immer ease .The are a problem to themselves Many
spend hours in from T.V.or with grandchildren ,which are pleasant engagements
.As soon as they are disengaged , a snse of lonelinness ftakes pissession of
them .It is a discomfort that lives with them for rest of their
lives .
Pious people in retirement used to recite devotional songs or
poems, which generate inner engagement of sorts and largely relieve the sense of unease
.These poems
are very powerful and when recited by those who understand their inner import are
capable of giving great spiritual illumination. Even as an engagement ,they are
significantly meaningful This discomfort though felt by old people
,more is there in all who have crossed their buoyant youth whose overflowing
physical energy keeps up the engagement .
There is a substantial relief for such people , a
reversal of the unease into inner spiritual ease -sukham .For this
method to work , one should believe that the Spirit is there
behind the veils of external life . The formula " Let Thy
will be done and NOT my will " taken to seriously will slowly seep
into the Being, cross the veils and beckon
the Spirit .only that one must be gently persistent until the words of
the formula become a voice behind our daily existence .
A moment of illumination emerges when as
grey cloud the depression leaves the person never to return .The
loving attention paid to Thy will and the rule lodge the power of the
WILL inside forever . People ,specially in their old age , will find
a solace they have never dreamt of .Life will slowly become serene
inwardly .Those who were a problem to themselves will now see they
are a source of joy.
